Planned Parenthood’s Adoption Referral Rating: Zero

in News, Issues, & Commentary

Here’s a mind-boggling statistic from Focus on the Family Action: Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, did not refer a single pregnant woman to adoption services in fiscal year 2005. Not one.

They did, however, provide nearly 300,000 abortions last year.

In fiscal year 2004, Planned Parenthood reported that it referred nearly 1,500 clients to adoption agencies. Why the huge change, I wonder? I know it hurts their profit margin to refer women for adoption services, but would it really be so awful of them to encourage women to at least consider adoption as an option for an unwanted pregnancy?

For me, just hearing the word abortion is like having someone twist a dagger in my uterus.
FYI – I have both your books on adoption, am reading “network” and will get review to titletrakk.com soon.

And where did they get this stat? I find it hard to believe that PP actually shared that information with them. Do they pole the women leaving the clinics?
Actually, I’ve known several women who went to PP from the 80′s to present when faced with a pregnancy. Several of them decided on adoption or to parent based on their discussions with the counselors.
I call bologna on that stat.

A reader said “I’ve known several women who went to PP from the 80′s to present when faced with a pregnancy. Several of them decided on adoption or to parent based on their discussions with the counselors.” Well, that’s just it, we’re talking about 2005-2006. Not the ’80s. The 80s were two decades ago. Why would anyone make up those stats?
